A Family On-the-Move Needed to Settle In
After moving 4 times in 3 years, our client needed to feel comfortable in her new space. Her files were still in boxes, bills and receipts were scattered everywhere, and she still wasn't sure which room was going to become her office. We got work by first identifying "the office" and moving all file boxes, documents, supplies, and mail into the space. Next was getting the files into the filing cabinets, purging as we went and adding new folders to contain the new documents related to the move. As the system became more refined, we established a process for handling incoming mail, including how to handle bills by setting up a Master Bill Paying System.
Starting Over
When our client suddenly found herself divorced with a huge house, a mounting pile of bills, and little experience being financially in charge, she realized she needed help. Practically Organized stepped in to assist in her transition to from housewife to household manager. We reviewed her files and created a system that matched her needs. We tackled household maintenance issues together, meeting with service providers and negotiating terms. Bill Paying was built into our weekly organizing sessions. All the while we coached her and talked through her fears and challenges until she became confident to handle the house on her own.
An Entrepreneur needed to help Managing her Four Businesses.
Running 4 unique small businesses out of a single home office was a challenge. Our client needed to be able to keep the collateral, the business records, and the daily tasks lists for each business separate, yet easily within reach. After analyzing her space and business processes, we recommended designating specific areas in the office for each business. We used color to quickly identify each businesses within the space. The color coding was carried over into "shared" areas such as filing cabinets and supply closets. We also replaced and modified office furniture to have her environment reflect her daily workflow. The redesign of the workspace and the addition of visual cues transformed a cluttered environment into a productive workspace for both her and her clients.
